Recently, while listening to a video blog by Marianne Williamson, I was inspired to return to a morning practice of chanting and meditation. She mentioned something about the morning being the time when we receive information and connect with GOD. If you have not tried it, I highly recommend waking up early and taking notice of how quiet it is between the hours 4:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. I can feel some of you cringe at the thought.

I used to cringe at this thought as well. Now I embrace it as the time I connect with my heart and the Divine Spark that is within me. For those of you that are night owls try it at night. Sit in the stillness and see what happens.

Many cultures have practices during this time in the morning. “In India the period of time between 4:00-6:00 a.m. is considered to be a sacred time to meditate.  Hindus, too, believe in the ‘Brahma Muhurta’, the time of God, which occurs exactly for the first 48 minutes, of that one hour and thirty-six minutes before sunrise every day.  It is said that this is a time that is conducive to learning and mastering the scriptures, music and any other art form.  It is a time when the mind is open and ready to absorb knowledge easily,” (https://www.itstimetomeditate.org/4am-peace/).

As I prepared myself to sit, I noticed my throat became tight. I thought to myself, “interesting.” Perhaps I should work with my throat chakra. I paused, and checked in with my body and being, waiting for the guidance to come with the morning’s meditation. My throat persisted. I grabbed one of the aura sprays I recently purchased. I thought, “Perfect, I will use the throat chakra aura spray.” I waited for divine guidance to come, especially since I have stepped into public platforms expressing my voice and speaking through the channel of my heart.  In what ways would I learn to master the POWER OF VOICE. I grabbed the spray, and sprayed it in the air above my head and aura. I just sat and focused on my breath as I took in the aroma of an essential oil blend of yarrow, basil, linden blossom, petitgrain and peppermint.

As my body began to relax, I took a soft gaze before me, noticing the Higher Self candle on the altar. The label of the candle had a heart depicted on it with soft colors of blue, pink and yellow. I remember thinking, “Oh, yes. It depicts the energy of the Three-Fold Flame.” I then closed my eyes and began to think about the blue plume representing The Will of God, communication and breath, which is associated with the throat chakra.

Memories of playing in the front yard of my childhood home came into my thoughts and vision. The yard faced the neighbor across the street, the Shafers! I remember Mrs. Shafer used to sit out front and just stare. We all knew to stay away from the house because she was known to be unkind. One summer, I accidentally hit a ball into her yard. She grabbed it and took it into the house, and when I asked for it back she refused. A few moments later, I saw the ball rolling down the street. She threw it out the door as I walked away.

A few weeks later my twin brother, a neighborhood friend, and I were out front playing. We noticed Mrs. Shafer sitting outside in a chair in the shade of her porch. The three of us would duck down just below the 4 ½ foot fence that framed my front yard. Yup, what do some kids do best when in groups defending each other?  You guessed it, we heckled her. We yelled from across the street, “What are you looking at Mrs. Shafer?” in a surly and sassy tone. Then we would duck behind the fence and laugh as if she did not see our heads popping up to see if she was looking. I also remembered my mother, hearing us, and forcing us to apologize. We reluctantly walked across the street and apologized. All of us knew taunting her was wrong, yet we did it anyway. In our child-like minds, we felt we were warranted in our behavior, even though each of us INNATELY knew what we were doing was wrong.

I remember my mother used to tell us, just “Kill her with kindness.” What the heck does that mean to a seven-year-old? I just knew to be nice. Speaking so poorly to another human being no matter what they have done in life, goes against your DIVINE NATURE.

I continued to sit in silence, watching this short movie clip of a moment in my life and wondered, “Hmmm, what does that memory have to do with today and my throat chakra and the POWER OF VOICE?” Quite a bit I tell you. Quite a bit. . .

The more I live life through the unseen aspects of the heart which make up the Divine Spark or Three-Fold Flame as I know it, the more sensitive I become in what is felt in my body and emotions.

Within this heart flame reside three flames;

  1. Power/Will of God; blue, communication
  2. Wisdom, yellow, illumination
  3. Love, Pink

It’s important to know these flames are not separate, rather they work in synergy with each other. The physical body cannot live without all three flames. It’s what connects us to the universal ray of light.

Now, let’s take a look at my seven-year-old self. I innately knew what I was saying to the neighbor was not kind. I knew it was not a wise choice. How did I know that? That’s right, I knew there would be consequences to my choice.  It was not “Loving.”

At the age of seven, I did not know about the Divine Spark and the divine attributes that reside in the heart. They are always operating in the background and were just waiting for me to become conscious of the light within myself.

Every human being has a Divine Spark within them. Each person knows when they are not in alignment or operating with these innate attributes. It’s interesting to me, as adults we are no different. You lie to yourself all the time to justify your actions and choices. How many of you still say, “I didn’t do it” or stay silent when you know the truth while someone else takes the fall? Or how many of us stay at a job where we are miserable or in a relationship just a little too long?

Or conversely, speak when you know someone needs assistance or an injustice is happening. See where a change can uplift and make something better? Your voice shows up in many ways. That’s the spark. Something inside you got ignited to speak up and use the POWER OF YOUR VOICE.

We can hear in our leaders when it’s used for the highest good and when it’s used to destroy, oppress, and cause fear.

This is how powerful your VOICE is. It can create peace and comfort just as easily as it can create war and fear (collectively and individually).

VOICE IS A POWER within you that is so often taken for granted. When you become more mindful and conscious of how to use your voice, you will feel the shifts and changes within you and around your world (family, friends, work, strangers). You may find yourself practicing listening more often and using discernment. Your choice of language may also change as hearing certain vibrations of words will no longer be comfortable to you and in your body.  To MASTER THE WILL, the POWER OF VOICE is also to MASTER LISTEN and DISCERNMENT..

For those of you recognizing you are on a Path of Ascension, soul evolution, having a Heart Awakening, or essentially evolving, life may feel a bit chaotic. In time, along your journey, it will become clear to you. It’s through these experiences in life that will assist in you “cracking” open to become your true self. Perhaps, instead of asking why? Try a different question or two as you contemplate and discover your true nature.

So, I invite you to take some time in the stillness of the morning or night and contemplate the Power OF WILL, VOICE, and the BREATH that connects you to life itself.

To prepare for your meditation perhaps begin with chanting “Om” (A-U-M). The word Om is defined by Hindu scripture as being the primordial sound of creation. It is the original vibration of the universe. From this first vibration, all other vibrations are able to manifest,” (https://www.hinduamerican.org/).

Ask your higher self for guidance on how you might use the POWER of WILL today?
